Now do not get me wrong, i LOVE our parents. both of them. However, living with them is DEF another story.... I thought things could go off without a hitch... and they did for sometimes, but soon the empty-nesters got our family of five, plus another sibling move in. The house is now BUSTING at its seams. We did end up hurting feelings of the parents we did not move in with, but it just doesn't make anything easier...
A long time ago i had a little lady i helped in nursing for my CNA, she told me wise advice and i decided to ignore it. I am standing here to shout to the high heavens that i WOULD NOT IGNORE THIS ADVICE!!!! She told me that "even if i had to live in a cardboard box under the freeway to never live with relatives."
Now mind you that i would never..
and i do mean never.
never.
live in a cardboard box under a freeway, its just who i am...
But i do mean it when it says to NEVER live with relatives. Just dont do it. I suggest it as a sincere experienced driven woman. Dont do it.
Ever.
Again i do deeply love and appreciate our parents and think tha absolute world of them, but living together is, well... difficult. sheesh.
THe boundaries between grandma and pa-pas house and the boundaries of home are different. THey get away with more, because it was just once or they arent here that often, or whatever the excuse is. Well in daily life, it just cant go that way. Like throwing the shoes off in the middle of the room. I always just walked by, picked them up and sighed, because they are just so dang happy to see grandma and pa-pa. Now its a daily ritual. Most days a several times during the day ritual. I step on blasted shoes all the time. Stuff like that.
Would you move in with family? Have you moved in with family? If so how long did it last? How do you discipline with grandparents watching ALL the time? What advice would you give me?
Loves,
Heather
